Drone accident at Virginia bull-running event injures 4

An event in Petersburg on Aug. 24 modeled after Pamplona, Spain's controversial San Fermin festival resulted in four injuries, but those injuries weren't caused by the bulls. Rather, the injuries came from a drone accident: The small, flying device that plummeted to the surprised crowd at approximately 12:00 p.m. reportedly looked like a mechanical spider and measured four feet in diameter. The device had been flying over the event to capture footage before it dipped and crashed into the crowd. Four people suffered minor injuries in the accident and were treated onsite.

The event, called the "Great Bull Run," featured the bull run along with live bands, drinking, food and a tomato fight. Nearly 8,000 people attended to watch 24 bulls chase 700 runners. The event has created controversy over concerns about the treatment of the animals and the safety of the participants. The bull-running event in Pamplona has had a number of damages, including injuries and death.

The event's organizers said that they have taken precautions to ensure the safety of both animals and participants. They claim on a website that the Spanish version of the event has run for 102 years and has seen 15 deaths.

Authorities are currently trying to ascertain who owns the drone involved in the Virginia incident. While injuries sustained from unmanned vehicles falling from the sky are certainly uncommon, those injured by them may still have legal recourse for pursuing compensation for any medical expenses associated with their injuries. Whether the drone is owned by an individual or a government agency, an attorney who handles a broad range of personal injury matters evaluate the incident and possibly negotiate for a settlement.
