Fatal car crash involving truck kills 2 men in Virginia

A two-vehicle crash in Virginia claimed the lives of a driver and his passenger. The fatal car crash happened in Augusta County on Route 254 near its intersection with Route 42 in the community of Buffalo Gap, according to Virginia State Police. The two men who were killed were riding in a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier when a cattle truck crossed the center line of the road and smashed head-on into the car.

The 52-year-old driver and 70-year-old passenger in the Cavalier, both from Augusta Springs, died at the scene. The driver of the truck was transported to the University of Virginia hospital for treatment of his life-threatening injuries. At the time of the report, the crash was still under investigation by the Virginia State Police's Appomattox Division Accident Investigation Team and their Motor Carrier Safety Team. The accident and subsequent investigation closed all lanes on the Parkersburg Turnpike around Route 42.

The truck was reportedly loaded with cattle when the crash occurred. None of the cattle was killed in the crash, and all of the livestock had been removed safely from the truck after the crash and were transported from the scene.

Virginia families affected by a wrongful death in a fatal car crash can be devastated by the loss of a loved one. The same is true of losses from a fatal workplace accident. A lawyer with a background in fighting for financial compensation through wrongful death claims may be able to help clients who have suffered a loss of companionship.
