A tragic truck accident in the Richmond area has left one young driver dead. The truck accident occurred when the tractor-trailer driver lost control, ran off the Virginia stretch of interstate and hit a car. The victim’s car was parked on the shoulder of the interstate at the time of the collision.

It is not clear if law enforcement believes that any external factors such as alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. However, the truck driver was charged with reckless driving. The victim was seated on the passenger side of the car. According to the report, she was thrown from the car and sustained major injuries. She succumbed to her injuries two days later.

There is no indication as to why the Virginia driver was parked on the side of the interstate or the nature of the injuries the victim sustained. The reckless driving charge may indicate that there is evidence indicating that the driver of the truck could potentially be liable for the damages that were incurred, even though he has not yet been convicted of a crime. Law enforcement agents are still investigating all of the details of the accident.

The family of the woman who died may have the option to file a wrongful death claim against the truck driver. No amount of compensation will undo an accident or erase the grief of a family. However, it can help cover any of the medical and end-of-life costs associated with the truck accident. Before filing a civil claim, the plaintiff needs to be able to present clear and substantive evidence to validate any of the claims made.
