As well-seasoned consumers, we have certain expectations when we make purchases. Ultimately, we expect to get what we pay for. Whether it is the quality of the brand name, the product doing what it is intended to do or the product being what it is advertised as, consumers’ expectations should be met. Unfortunately, defects can occur. This not only presents risks and dangers to consumers but could also be the cause of a recall being issued.

According to recent reports, a recall was issued for Blue Diamond’s Almond Breeze. More than 145,000 cartons of almond milk were recalled, impacting consumers in 28 states. After discovering that this product was contaminated with real milk, a recall was issued. The half-gallon size of Vanilla Almond Breeze was recalled due to the label not listing milk as a possible ingredient, and this could put consumers with dairy allergies at risk.

According to the FDA, the product is considered safe for consumers that do not have a milk allergy or sensitivity. It further noted that this contamination puts those with an allergy or a severe sensitivity to milk at a risk of having a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction. At this time, there has only been one report of an allergic reaction after consuming this product.

A product recall seeks to reduce the chances of consumer injuries. Unfortunately, this does not always happen in time or is complete, resulting in consumers suffering harms. In these matters, it is important for injured consumers to consider what legal recourses are available to them. A products liability action might be the right step to take. This legal action could help with the recovery of losses and damages caused by a defective or dangerous product.
