Wegmans hummus recalled due to plastic found in product

When we purchase goods from the store, we expect to get what we pay for. Unfortunately, mistakes and errors can be made. This can cause a seemingly harmless product to suddenly turn dangerous. This ultimately can result in a consumer suffering serious harms. And, if these harms are due to the defects caused by a manufacturer, designer or retailer, it is possible to seek recourses for the resulting losses.

According to recent reports, the store brand of hummus at the Wegmans grocery store chain was recently recalled. This product recall occurred after the concern that this product may contain pieces of black plastic. This retailer has stores in six states, which includes Virginia.

The products in question are the 8-ounce and 32-ounce container of Food You Feel Good About Original Humus that contains a "best before" date of November 14, 2018. It was determined that this product is sold in 98 stores.

This issue with this specific product was brought to the company's attention through a customer comment.

However, it is unclear if any customers suffered any harms or damages at this time. While it is possible to have this product returned or exchanged, this may not prevent any harms from being suffered.

No matter of major a product recall is, if a consumer suffers harm because of a defective product, it is vital that they explore their rights and options. It may be possible to file a products liability action. This can help prove liability and damages, helping an injured consumer secure damages for losses suffered.
