A new initiative: Safe Streets and Roads For All
Roanoke is implementing an initiative called Safe Streets and Roads For All that will go into effect in 2025. From 2015 to 2023, there have been nearly 500 car crashes that caused serious accident injuries, and almost 50 crashes that reported fatalities. Lawmakers hope that the studies conducted through the Safe Streets initiative will reveal new ways to make the city’s most dangerous intersections and corridors safer for motorists.
These main thoroughfares are not the only areas to be wary when driving through Virginia. Locals and tourists alike are also wise to drive with increased caution through mountain passes and costal routes. These roadways are just a sample of Virginia’s hazardous routes. Drivers must understand that the beauty of a drive does not negate the risks involved. Remember, safety on these roads is paramount. Drive wisely, stay informed, and respect the road.
