Drunk driver charged after fatal Virginia crash

Virginia residents know that when someone has had a night of drinking, that person should not be operating a vehicle under any condition. Alcohol can impair judgment and vision. It is also dangerous to other drivers on the roads because a drunk driver poses a greater threat of causing a car crash. It can cause irreparable damage to other drivers and passengers. Sometimes, it can even end in a fatality.

Recently, a drunk driver crashed into another vehicle on Interstate 64 and the other driver was killed. The driver had his 1998 Honda Civic pulled to the side of the road due to a malfunction and was awaiting assistance from AAA. The drunk driver drove a 2001 Ford Explorer off the interstate and hit the Honda Civic. The Civic driver was trapped inside the vehicle. Paramedics took the Civic driver to hospital where he passed away. The drunk driver was charged with driving under the influence, 2nd offense and was taken by police to Virginia Beach City Jail.

A fatal drunk driving accident is devastating for all people involved. Often times a family can receive compensation for the accident that will help pay for vehicle repair, medical expenses and other costs that arise from the accident. A family shouldn’t have to worry about financial support if a loved one is injured or killed in a car crash.

Alcohol decreases focus and the ability to make rational decisions on the roads. This can be especially dangerous on a high-speed road like Interstate 64 in Virginia. People who make the decision to drink alcohol and then get behind the wheel of a vehicle must face the consequences if they cause a crash.
