On Behalf of | Dec 18, 2015 | Truck Accidents

Truck accidents can have serious consequences for individuals and families. Because semi trucks typically weight 25 times more than a passenger vehicle, the dangers of a truck accident can be serious and the outcome can be far more catastrophic and than those outcomes associated with a passenger vehicle accident. Large truck accidents accounted for 4,995 fatalities and 106,000 injuries during 2006.

Serious and fatal injuries oftentimes result from a truck accident. Truck accident victims may be left with extensive damages including medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering damages. When truck accident victims have been negligently harmed, they may be able to recover compensation from the responsible party or parties for the damages they have suffered.

Depending on the circumstances, the truck driver, trucking company or insurance companies may all be liable and involved and compensating the victim, and victim’s family, for the injuries and harm suffered. Depending on the nature of the relationship between the truck driver and trucking company involved in the truck accident, and the nature of the truck driver’s activities at the time of the truck accident, both the truck driver and trucking company may be legally obligated to compensate the victim.

Truck accidents can happen in an instant and leave victims unexpectedly facing physical, financial and emotional challenges. When a truck driver or trucking company has been careless and caused the injuries and harm the victim, and victim’s family, suffered as a result, they may be liable to compensate the victim for their damages and ensure the victim is made as whole as possible in the circumstances.
