Even the safest Virginia drivers are vulnerable to the recklessness and negligence of drivers who neither obey the rules of the road nor appear to care about keeping everyone safe. When there is a car accident in Roanoke and throughout Virginia, it can lead to injuries and fatalities. Some of the most dangerous types of crashes are of the head-on variety. But any accident can lead to major long-term problems to those who were involved. After car accidents have occurred, those who were affected must remember to protect themselves by considering a legal case to be compensated.

A multi-vehicle crash sent two people to the hospital and led to another driver facing charges. The accident happened just before 4 p.m. when a 32-year-old man in a GMC pickup crossed the center line of the road, sideswiping a Chevrolet Trailblazer. The GMC then crossed the double line heading into traffic and there was a head-on car collision with a Honda Accord.

The Honda was run off the road and ended up hitting a house. The occupants of the Honda, age 79 and 69, were the only ones injured. The driver of the GMC fell asleep at the wheel. He was not believed to have been speeding or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He is facing charges of failing to drive on the correct side of the road and for failing to wear a seatbelt.

An auto accident can have a profound effect on a person’s life. With injuries, medical expenses, lost wages and long-term damage, it is not something to take lightly. People who are hurt must be aware of all the negative issues they will be confronted with. Insurance companies are mainly focused on keeping their costs in line, so people who have been hurt and their loved ones must protect themselves and understand the entirety of what they are dealing with. Often, a lawsuit is the only method to receive compensation for all that was lost.

Since the law enforcement investigation indicates that the driver of the GMC fell asleep and caused the crash, there is the foundation for those who were hurt to file a lawsuit and be compensated. For assistance in their case, it is imperative to discuss the case with an attorney who is experienced in an accident investigation and helping those who have been hurt in an auto accident.
