Wythe County truck crash claims 1 victim

Trucks are always driving America's goods to market and delivering other necessary things around the continent. Virginia's place at the crossroads of the U.S. East Coast, with port facilities and large centers of manufacturing, ensures that the highways from I-81 to I-95 are always teeming with trucks.

The speed and weight of tractor-trailers and other heavy vehicles mean that accidents are likely to cause serious problems when they happen. One person is dead after a crash involving multiple trucks on I-81 in Wythe County, in the southwestern part of the state. The incident began when a box truck crashed through the median into the northbound lanes after going off the left side of the southbound lanes.

The truck hit a car and two tractor-trailers going northbound. One of the trucks ran off the road into the median. The highway was closed while Virginia State Police and units tasked with investigating the accident were on the scene. The state's motor carrier enforcement unit is also involved.

People who suffered injuries in a truck crash or the survivors of people killed in truck crashes may have a case for financial damages in civil court. This may be the case whether or not local prosecutors have decided the case warrants criminal charges.

An attorney can help recommend the best course of action after an unexpected accident. Legal representation is often very helpful in this difficult situation. A lawyer can often help examine the evidence of a truck crash and help work out if anyone may be proven liable for the results in civil court.
